FAQ
Common questions
Straight answers to the questions patients ask most.
Do you only treat athletes?+
No. The practice treats active adults across the full range of knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, and wrist injuries, whether the injury happened in competition, at work, or in everyday life. The standard is the same either way: a precise diagnosis and a plan built around what you want to get back to.
Will I need surgery?+
Not necessarily. Every plan starts with a precise diagnosis, and nonoperative and joint-preserving options come first whenever the injury allows it. Surgery enters the conversation when the structure of the joint requires it, and that decision is made with you, after you understand what the exam and the imaging actually show.
What are PRP and BMAC?+
PRP is platelet-rich plasma, a concentrate prepared from a sample of your own blood. BMAC is bone marrow aspirate concentrate, prepared from a sample of your own bone marrow. Both are orthobiologic treatments, which means they use material from your own body in and around an injured structure.
Whether either one fits your injury depends on the exact diagnosis and the tissue involved, so the conversation starts with an exam, not with the product.
How fast can I get back to my sport?+
There is no honest single timeline, and a date offered before a diagnosis would be a guess. Recovery depends on the injury, the tissue involved, the treatment you choose, and how your rehabilitation progresses.
What you can expect is an individualized plan with clear milestones, so you know what has to be true before each next step.
Are there alternatives to cortisone shots?+
Yes. Depending on the diagnosis, alternatives can include structured physical therapy, activity modification, viscosupplementation, which is a gel-like injection that lubricates the joint, and orthobiologic options such as platelet-rich plasma. Cortisone can quiet inflammation, but it does not repair tissue. Which alternative makes sense, if any, depends on what is actually causing the pain.
Get back to your best.
We're here to help you move better, feel better, and live better.
